Environmental Activist Group formed in wake of Javea Summer fires

Natura SOS Marina Alta is a newly formed group of environmental activist group who came together following the summer 2016 wildfires that so drastically affected Javea and surrounding areas, in particular Benitachell.

They are unhappy about the large number of houses damaged in the fires, not to mention the many hundreds of hectares of uncultivated land devastated by the flames. They want assurances that such wildfires are not the source of profits for unscrupulous developers and landowners.

They are also calling for other environmental issues to be tackled, such as the cleanliness of the areas beaches.

The group is holding its first public meeting at the Plaza de la Constitució in Dénia at 11am on Saturday 29 October. There will be street theatre performances and various workshops also taking place at the event.

After the meeting the group intend to move on to Punta del Raset beach, more specifically an area of woods at the entrance to the beach. Here they will take on their first clean-up efforts, this will be followed by something to eat.
