How to drive from Alicante Airport to Javea

Driving from Alicante Airport to Javea is pretty straightforward with two basic options.

The first option is to make use of the AP7 toll road (at the time of writing the toll is 8.50 Euros)

This is a very straightforward route taking approximately 1 hour 10 mins.

It is also easy to navigate

Leaving the airport take N-340/Elche/ E-15/ A-7/Valencia/Murcia

After 5 mins merge into the  N-338

Then you will see the signs for Madrid and A-70/Alicante/Benidorm/Valencia

Obviously select the A-70 towards Benidorm (This becomes the AP 7 at the toll)

From this point just follow the signs towards Benidorm and the Valencia

(Important note about 20 from the airport there is a tunnel the speed limit is 80kms and hour. This is a ‘zero tolerance’ speeding area, all cars traveling at even 81kms and hour will receive a speeding ticket)

When you reach the toll road ticket area simply pull into one of the lanes, a ticket will automatically pop out from the machine and the barrier will raise.

You want to leave the AP 7 road at Benissa,

At the toll booth enter your ticket the due amount will be shown, you can pay in change dropped in a hopper or you can feed in notes, the machines give change.

You now follow the N 332 towards Teulada then continue on to Benitachell and then on into Javea.

A second alternative is just drive passing Benidorm, Altea, and Benissa staying on the AP 7, the turnoff you need is Ondara -Denia.

From here it is just a matter of following the signs onto the N332 towards Pedreguer then Benissa for around 10 mins then at the take a left on the CV 734 to Javea

This route will take 10-15 mins longer than leaving the AP 7 at Benissa but may be easier to follow.

Benidorm to Benissa N 332 (Altea is at 9 mins,  on this day traffic was light, but you can see how narrow the road is here)

There is a third option, to take the N 332 all the way from the airport to Javea’s outskirts.

The big problem with the N 332 is the severe traffic delays than can occur in the summer, especially at Altea, This can add an hour to the journey fairly easily and sometimes much more.
