Alicante Airport to Javea by Bus
Javea is well serviced by two bus companies, and there are options for taking the bus directly from Alicante airport to Javea. There is not a viable option by train as Javea does not have a train station and neither does Alicante airport, so the journey would involve two trains, two buses, and a lot of waiting around making the journey time as long as eight hours or more.
One of the bus options is Spanish national carrier Alsa which operates services approximately every two hours from the airport. The cost at the time of writing (Winter 2016) is €15.15 and involves changing buses at Benidorm. There are stops at 7 other towns the last being Benitachell, the total journey time to Javea is around four hours. The bus only drops off at the main bus station in Javea. For most people, during the summer, the bus station is not within walking distance of the beach area, especially if you have bags, there is a taxi rank at the bus station.
Alsa do allows cats, small dogs, and bikes, or surfboards to be carried. Some departures make less stops and the journey takes 3 hours, so be careful which departure you opt for if you need to save time. It is highly advisable to book in advance, but the company website only allows booking about six months in advance.
Beniconnect is another company offering journeys to and from Javea, unlike Alsa they tend to use larger minibuses rather than full size coaches. They also offer to transport various items including small pets, bicycles and electric scooters. The cost is €26, there is no need to change buses, there are several stops including Benitachell and a journey time of 1 hour 40 mins, but that varies depending on where you want to be dropped off in Javea. Booking in advance is required.
They have multiple dropping off points spread throughout Javea so it is a good idea to tell the driver the name of your accommodation. The company also offers minibuses for up to six people for approximately €150.
Do it Yourself
It is also possible to take a local bus from the airport into Alicante or Benidorm and then make your way to Javea, but in reality there is little cost saving, especially over Alsa, and the journey could take a very long time if you are unlucky with connections.
