Creu del Portitxol Viewpoint Javea Details – Video
To reach the beautiful viewpoint of Cruz del Portitxol you should take the road towards Cap Negre which is easily found from the Southern end of the beach by following the signs from Mas Y Mas on the beach road.
As you approach the area you will pass the XIC Xabia International Collage you will the be on the Carretera Portitxol which will take you directly to the cross which marks the viewpoint.
Bearning left on a bend in the Portixol road a short 500 metre stretch leads you to the small cross on the left hand side of the road. Parking at this point is very limited but well worth the effort.
It is a 50 minute walk or an eight minute drive from the beach to Potitxol.
The cross sits above a small bay situated between Cap Prim and Cap Negre, from here you can take the path and walk down to the gravel beach which is around 900 metres wide.
But staying up at the viewpoint offers beautiful views over Potitxol Island and the two jutting headlands of Cap Prim and Cap Negre, the steep pathway below and pine trees.
This is an ideal spot to sit for a while and enjoy the stunning scenery, and contemplate that as far back as the Roman Era ships landed in the cove below and people made their way up that very path carrying goods for trade. There are signs at the top of the path that offer information about the viewpoint in Spanish and English.
